Deskjet USB Supplemental Uninstaller- HOME USERS/COPORATE USERS - FOR USB CABLE ONLY(American English)
Use this utility when: The USB driver installs part way, then the driver will not install. The Add New Hardware Wizard will not appear or one of the following conditions will occur.
After selecting Finish on the Add New Hardware Wizard during a USB install, the HP Printer Driver Installation screen fails to appear.
Plugging in the USB cable causes the Add New Hardware Wizard to appear on the screen briefly. The USB port driver loads, and the Printer Driver Installation screen fails to appear. There is no interaction required from the user in this scenario.
After printing successfully with the printer installed on the USB port and then uninstalling the printer driver, attempts to reinstall it fail.
Information:
The computer will not recognize the printer a second time (as described above) because during the first installation keys and folders are put into the computer's registry. The uninstaller on the installation CD will not delete these keys and folders that refer to the printer, therefore it appears to the computer that the printer is installed and will not allow it to be installed a second time. These printer entries in the registry need to be deleted. HP has developed an uninstaller utility that will delete all of the unnecessary printer references from the registry.
Instructions for running the USB Uninstall Utility from the Web site:
Unplug the USB cable from either the printer or the computer.
Click the Download Now button. The next screen should have a dot in the button next to "Save this program to disk", if not, select it.
Click OK.
In the Save in field, click the arrow to see the dropdown menu, select Desktop. Make note of the name in the File Name field.
Click Save. The file will be save to the Windows Desktop.
Close the web browser.
When the Desktop appears, double click the xxx.exe file just saved to the Desktop.
In the Unzip to folder field, click the Browse button to see the drop down menu, select Desktop, and click OK.
Click Unzip. A message "2file(s) unzipped successfully" will appear. Click OK
Close the Winzip Self Extractor window.
Find the new HP icon on the Desktop labeled scr_xxx.exe. (xxx will be the model number of the printer.
Double click the HP icon. This will only take seconds.
Click Yes when asked "Do you want to restart your computer now?"
The computer will restart.
The printer may now be reinstalled by carefully following the set up instructions from the setup poster, the manual, or the web.

1. Turn the printer on.
2. Ensure the printer is connected to the network.

2. Ensure the "Wireless" is turned on for the printer. (Typically signified by Blue Light on printer.)
3. Write down the wireless setting for your network. They are stored in the access point (the box with antennas).
4. To get to the access point:
a. Press the Windows key and the R key. Type CMD and press ENTER.
b. Type IPCONFIG and press ENTER.
c. Write down the IP address that appears in the line that says "Default Gateway". Example "192.162.0.1"
d. Press the Windows key and the R key. Type http:// and press ENTER . Example http://192.168.0.1. That will take you to the access point web server. Check your access point manual for more instructions.
e. You need to find the following settings.
i. SSID or Network name
ii. Encryption (None or disabled, WEP or WPA)
iii. Key or paraphrase
f. If you cannot find these settings, contact the manufacturer of your access point for help.
5. If your printer has an LCD display, press Setup, go to the network menu and select the wireless configuration option (usually called Wireless Setup Wizard) and follow instructions.
Note: If the printer cannot connect to your wireless network:
1. Ensure MAC address control/filter includes new printer's MAC addresses OR MAC address control/filter is turned "Off".
2. Ensure SID broadcasting is temporary enabled for easier setup.
3. Follow your setup instructions that came with your printer for more information on configuring your wireless printer.
