This .ppd file was created to address the issue of changes to screen frequencies not being recognized
in the LJ 4000 or 5000 PS driver when in the PageMaker application.
The .ppd files should be placed in the appropriate directory depending on the PageMaker version number:

Important Notes
This version of Resource Manager supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.
If you are using any of the Digital Sender Module Services (Scan to Email, LanFax, or NT Authentication) with the Mopier 240/320 or LaserJet 8000/8100 MFP, you will need to download firmware using the Digital Sender Module 2.3 software. Use of the DOS parallel upgrade or the HP Resource-Manager Upgrade will break the digital sending connection, and digital sending will no longer work.
Each version also includes all features and fixes from previous firmware versions.
If the hard disk is initialized, the factory defaults will be restored and the System Administrator will need to reset the desired default settings.

There are two methods for upgrading the firmware for the HP Digital Copy.

For Single MFP Upgrades: A PJL datastream sent to the printer's hard disk using a DOS binary copy command may be preferable. This procedure requires a host computer capable of running DOS, a C-type parallel cable, and the PJL firmware file. Host computers not able to run DOS will work as long as they are capable of sending a binary datastream to a parallel connected device. The firmware will be in a file called CMFxxx.PJL (where xxx is the CP runtime version number). A file called CMFDIRS.PJL will also be available to create, or recreate the necessary directory structure to contain the copy module firmware (see step 8 below).

For Multiple MFP Upgrades: If it is a single site or upgrade over the network, then the HP Resource Manager method may be preferable. This method requires a host PC running Windows 9x or Windows NT with HP Resource Manager installed, the correct .mfw firmware file, and a network connection to the MFPs to be upgraded. The firmware will be in files called CMFxxxRM.MFW (where xxx is the CP runtime version number).

As the notebook user moves around within the enterprise from floor to floor or from site to site, there is a need to print to networked printers that are encountered while away from the desk. HP Mobile Printing for Notebooks allows easy printing access to these newly encountered printers. There is no need to locate the printer driver or create a new network port. The user simply selects the HP Mobile Printing application, enters the network address (IP Address, hostname, or UNC pathname) of the target printer when prompted, and the print job is sent to the printer.

A Web JetAdmin plug-in has been developed to allow IT administrators to remotely enable display of the printer IP address on the printer control panel display.
