This firmware update is for people using the HP photosmart 1200 photo scanner that would like to connect it to a Macintosh computer running OS X.
IMPORTANT:
Who should update their firmware to version 2.10
Users who want to add Macintosh compatibility to their photo scanner must have firmware version 2.10 or higher, and HP photo & imaging software version 5.5.6 or higher. Please follow the instructions below for checking and updating the firmware in your scanner.
How to check the firmware version
Connect the scanner to your Mac using the USB cable.
Turn the scanner on. A HP_PS1200 volume will appear on your Mac computer's Desktop.
Open the HP_PS1200 volume, and double-click the 'INIT.TXT' file. The firmware version is the second item listed in the file (Version:1.10).
Close the 'INIT.TXT' file, and the HP_PS1200 window.
Drag the HP_PS1200 volume to the Trash, and turn the scanner off.
How to update the firmware version
Download the compressed file COL3918.sit to your computer. Double-click on the file to decompress the file into a COL3918 folder on your Mac computer's Desktop.
Open the COL3918 folder, and double-click the 'Update' application to update your scanner's firmware.
Note: The instructions in the firmware update application need to be followed precisely in order for you scanner's firmware to be successfully updated.
