NOTE: You should only install these files if the enhanced Windows
3.1/95 printer driver does not work with your Windows application. This
printer driver does not take advantage of all of the features of your
printer.

This WPD has been updated to correctly select paper trays with the
Microsoft driver version 3.58.

In order to install this WPD file under Windows follow these steps:

1) Go to Printers under the Control Panel option in Windows.

2) Select the 'Add>>' option and choose 'Install Unlisted or Updated
Printer' from the list of printers.

3) Select 'Install' to the right of the list of printers.

4) Type in the path of the WPD file. For example, if you have saved
the files in this archive to the top-level directory of your C:
drive, you would type the following path.

5) Choose one of the printer models that appears in the dialog box.

DIGITAL Laser LNC02 2400 DPI

You should choose the printer driver that matches the printer
resolution that you will use most often. If you want to use more
than one resolution, you will need to install all of the necessary
drivers and switch between them in the Printers control panel or
your application Printer dialog box.

6) Windows will then prompt you for the location of the Microsoft
driver. You will need to give it the path of the Microsoft
driver. If you have installed a PostScript printer driver before
on your system, then the necessary files are already located in
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

7) The printer name that you selected will show in the list of
installed printers.

NOTE: Problems may occur if you install both this driver and the other
Windows 95 printer driver (from archive C02_P13E.ZIP or the CD-ROM folder
DRIVERS/WIN95PPD folder). Because the printer models have the same names
("DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02"), the Windows 95 Registry entries will
overwrite each other (even if you have assigned different printer names
on your Windows 95 system) and unpredictable behavior will result. If
you have already installed the basic Windows 95 printer driver, you must
delete it before installing this driver.

To install this printer driver:
1 From the Start menu choose Settings.

2 From the Settings menu choose Printers.

3 In the Printers window double-click on Add Printer.

4 Follow the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard.

5 When you're prompted to select a manufacturer and printer,
choose Have Disk...

6 In the Install From Disk window, choose Browse...

7 Change to the printer driver directory where you stored the files
from this archive.

DIGITAL.INF displays in the File Name list.

8 Choose OK to return to the Install from Disk window.

9 Choose OK again.

DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02 displays in the Printers list.

10 Continue following the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard to
complete the installation.

>> CAUTION: If you use (or plan to use) Microsoft Word 7.0,
do not use the characters " on " (the word "on" with a
space before and after it) when prompted to name the
printer. Word will not display the printer properties of
any printer with these characters in its name.

11 When the installation is complete, exit from the Printers window.

CAUTION: You must install the correct printer driver for the type of
Windows NT 4.0 computer you have. This package contains software for
Intel-based Windows NT systems.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: If you have previously installed a PostScript printer driver for
your DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02, first perform the RE-INSTALLATION
procedure, described in the next section.

1) Save the files from this archive on your Windows NT 4.0 system.

2) Start the Add Printer wizard, in the Printers folder, of your system.

3) Click on "Next", then select whether the printer is attached to
your workstation (either with a physical port or a DIGITAL Network
Port) or is available on the Network as a shared printer. Click
"Next" after making this selection.

(You may wish to create a new Digital Network Port for your DIGITAL
Laser Printer LNC02. Refer to the instructions in the Network
Interface and Network Software Setup Guide to add a DIGTIAL Network
Port to your Windows NT 4.0 system.)

4) Click on "Have Disk" when the list of printer drivers is shown.

5) When prompted, browse to the folder on your hard drive where
you saved the files from this archive.

6) Click on "OK". Then select "DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02" in the next
dialog box that appears and click "Next".

7) When you are prompted for a printer name, either accept the
displayed name or type a new one, and then click "Next".

8) If you plan to share your LNC02 printer, you can turn on sharing
at this point. However, do NOT select additional operating system
drivers at this point. Click "Next" when you are finished with this
dialog box.

(You can install the other Windows NT 4.0 printer driver for your
DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02, however, you cannot install any of the
other operating system printer drivers because they are not
compatible with the advanced Windows NT 4.0 printer driver. You can
install the alternate Windows NT 4.0 printer driver at a later time
from the Sharing tab of the printer property sheets.)

9) You will be asked to print a test page. This will help verify that
your installation was successful. Click on "Finish".

10) The printer driver will install automatically and a new icon for your
DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02 will appear in the Windows NT 4.0 system
folder. Installation is complete.

RE-INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
-------------------------
If you have previously installed a PostScript printer driver for your
DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02, first perform the following procedure.

1) Open the Printers folder on your Windows NT 4.0 system.

2) Select the icon for your DIGITAL Laser Printer LNC02.

3) From the File menu, choose Delete and confirm deletion of the
printer.

(If you have more than one LNC02 printer installed, repeat this
process for each printer.)
