What you need

[3] libusb >= Version 0.1.12 available at

[5] In order to use new SCardControl-API use PCSCLite > 1.3.2

Driver Installation
------------------------------
After you have downloaded the tarball extract it in any directory
change to this directory and run as root user


This script checks if PCSCLite is installed and then copies
the CCID driver bundle to /usr/local/pcsc/drivers directory,
which is the default PCSCLite USB driver dropdir.
You can change the dropdir by providing another install path
to the install script using the option '-d':

1. Ensure that PCSC-Lite < 1.4.100 is configured with the options
--enable-libusb and --enable-extendedapdu.
Moreover it is also necessary to install libusb
AND its corresponding development sources package that
is e.g. for DEBIAN libusb-dev or for MANDRIVA libusb-devel

2. Using pcsc-lite < 1.3.2 without --enable-extendedapdu,
could cause a segmentation fault at pcscd, because
there is a bug passing the receive length correctly. This
only occurs if the receive buffer (passed by SCardTransmit)
is bigger than PCSC defines in MAX_BUFFER_SIZE.

II. New Installation:

Plug the OMNIKEY CardMan 3x21 into a free USB port.
A 'New Hardware Found' dialog box will appear and you will be asked to select the
directory where the driver files are stored.
The OMNIKEY Diagnostic Tool is not part of this installation package. It is
available as a separate installation file.

MS Smart Card Base Components

The OMNIKEY CardMan 3x21 needs the Microsoft Smartcard Base Components for proper
operation.

Step By Step Instructions To Update The Driver:

PC/SC driver for SmartReader SR-5044 (V1.1.1.3 - Release: 07/11/06 - Windows 98 / Me) The installation of the driver is done by Plug and Play under all operating systems.
II. New Installation:
*********************
Plug the OMNIKEY CardMan 3x21 into a free USB port.
A 'New Hardware Found' dialog box will appear and you will be asked to select the
directory where the driver files are stored.
During driver installation the CardMan Diagnostic Tool will be installed. This tool is
listed in the control panel and displays version and status information.

Please find these files in the SYSTEM directory under Windows 98 and ME,
in the SYSTEM32 directory under W2000 and XP.

MS Smart Card Base Components
-----------------------------

The OMNIKEY CardMan 3x21 needs the Microsoft Smartcard Base Components for proper
operation.

The Microsoft Smartcard Base Components are automatically installed by the driver
files for Windows 98 and ME. Under W2000 and XP they are already integrated into
the operating system.

If you have accidentally installed the Base Components under Windows 2000 or XP, you
can recover the smartcard subsystem with the following commands on an
administrator's console window:
