Purpose of this Utility
With the release of Capture Wizard (Capwiz) version 3.6.1 for the Instant DVD family of products, a new driver was released as well. Capwiz version 3.6.1 contains the utility to automatically update the driver when it is launched for the first time. However, there is sometimes a need to remove capwiz 3.6.1 and go to one of the previous versions: Capwiz 3.5.12 or capwiz 3.1 (note that users of capwiz 3.0 should be updated to 3.1 or 3.5 if having problems.) These versions of capwiz will not work with the new driver and will need to roll the drivers back to the previous version.

This utility is to facilitate easy installation of the correct driver version for your installed capwiz version

- Video File Conversion - Fix the problem when convert video files from NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC.
-Audio Mixing - Fix the output quality problem when doing audio mixing.
-Split by Scene - Fix the crash problem when using "Split by Scene" in Edit step and there`s no D drive or the D drive is CD-Rom.

-Output Video - In the previous release, a error message "Failed to open Mpeg encoder" may appear when you try to create video file and choose "same as project setting", and this is fixed in the patch.
-More Capture Setting - Add a new option "Use Split dialog Box for capture settings" in Preference. If this is checked, more capture options will be shown as VideoStudio 6.

Note: If you purchased your product before Dec. 2003, be sure to apply the Video Studio patch for DVD Xpress BEFORE, applying this Capture plug-in Update patch.
This patch updates Video Studio to the latest versions of software support for your DVD Xpress device. There are also fixes so that files edited in Video Studio can be exported from CapWiz and fixes for PAL video export from Video Studio.

CapWiz 3.5 has several enhancements as outlined below.
Direct to Disc - The primary enhancement for CapWiz 3.5 is the Direct to Disc capability. Now you can click the Direct to Disc button on the CapWiz interface and run an easy to use 2 screen wizard that allows you to archive your VHS tapes or any analog video source directly to VCD, SVCD or DVD disc in REALTIME, without saving any video to your computer hard drive. CapWiz with Direct to Disc capability is the fastest and easiest way to get your video tapes to optical disc.

Bug Fixes –
There have been minor bug fixes and updates to some of the status messages in CapWiz.
Device Not detected – in CapWiz 3.1 there was an incorrect error message that was displayed.
Allow CapWiz to run even if the Instant DVD or DVD Xpress unit is not connected. This was not working properly and was related to the error above. This is, now, fixed.
Spatial Filter slider in the Custom Capture settings menu has been fixed to allow the correct range from 0 – 7.
Files created in Video Studio can now be exported from CapWiz (Instant DVD and Instant DVD + DV only)
When Canceling the Wizard menu at CapWiz start-up the full CapWiz application will load.
MPEG Audio display – some users were confused when CapWiz displayed MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio – when capturing DVD (MPEG-2). They did not realize the MPEG-1 was the audio compression standard. We have updated this message to display only MPEG Audio or LPCM Audio depending upon which audio compression method is selected.
Modest image quality improvements were made by making some adjustments in the direct show filter calls.
Modest image quality improvement for low bit rate captures like VCD.

Install this update to enable video capture for ADS Instant DVD 2.0, Instant DVD + DV and DVD Xpress products.
Instructions for Selecting Capture Plug-in:

DVD MF 3 – You need to select the capture plug-in for ADS Instant DVD USB2.

Here is how to do it:

From the master menu – select Create Video Disc
1.) Click the camcorder icon to start Video Capture - after a few seconds you may see a message stating “No Capture driver found”
2.) Click the double down arrows – just above the area where is says “Free/Total hard disk space” - this opens another dialog box area
3.) Now you will see a gear icon with “Advanced Settings” - click Advanced Settings – select “Change capture plug-in” – choose “ADS Instant DVD USB2 Capture Plug-in”
4.) Give it a couple of seconds to load the capture driver and if you have your VCR connected to the composite video input on your Instant DVD device, you will see video previewing.
5.) To change capture settings – Click “Advanced Settings” – choose MPEG Options to select different video sources and or MPEG video settings.
6.) Now you are ready to capture video clips and even grab snapshots of your video.
