Informations
When you installed network driver( PNIC 168 ) for win98,we have three comment to you:
1. the system will automatically find the L100w95.inf in the root
directory without giving you and option,in other word, you should only typed in a:\ instead of typing a:\win95.
2. sometimes, after a fresh installation of PNIC 10/100 network device
driver, there is nothing in network neighborhood, the reason is that only TCP/IP protocol has been bond to our PNIC driver and win98 won't prompt user to manually configure the TCP/IP.
you should add the NETBEUI protocol or configure the TCP/IP
protocol,after you install PNIC driver.
3. if your NIC's controler is "lc82c168" ( PNIC 168 ),when you install this NIC into your PC,
Win98 will install this adapter twice, the reason is that when win98
initialize,it will check sub-system ID every times ( win95 has only
check once when you install NIC ) .
Unfortunately , Our PNIC 168 will generate two difference sub-system ID ( warm boot and cold boot will generate difference sub-system ID ).
Enclosed is a small utility to Fix this bug, this utility will write
some information into your NIC EEPROM, please execute this under DOS prompt.
The another way, you may keep two PNIC in your device manager, but you have to configuration this two NIC to ensure both cold boot and warm boot have the same setting.
Just keep two adapter in your system device manager,do not remove it, and your system will work properly.
if your NIC's controller is "LC82c169" thus all of wrong is gone.
please following all instruction of above and try again,
