1) With the power off on your computer, insert the Lava 2SP PCI card into an empty PCI slot.
2) Power up the computer and boot into DOS mode.
3) Run the lavaconf.exe utility found on the Win3.1 directory on the diskette provided.
4) Record the IO addresses and IRQ that it reports.
5) Boot into Win3.X and enter Control Panel and then Ports.
6) Modify the IO addresses and IRQ for the COM3 and COM4 port to match what you have recorded in step 4.
7) Restart Win3.X.

KNOWN ISSUES

Win3.X only has the ability to install up to 4 COM ports.
NOTE: This utility can also be used for the configuration of COM ports under DOS. Use the addresses and IRQ reported in by this utility to configure the ports in your DOS application. Refer to the DOS applications manual or Readme.txt for details on how to configure the port.

The "Utils" (utilities) subdirectory of your LavaPort diskette contains
several programs that you may find useful when using your LavaPort with
an external modem. The included utilities are:

1. Lava Com Port Redirector
These programs are described below. You may run the Lava Com Port Redirector from the diskette without installing it if you wish.

The Lava Utility must be installed using the standard Windows95
Add New Programs procedure in order to work.

NOTE: These utilities are for use with Windows95 ONLY !! Do not attempt to use
these programs with any other operating system.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Lava Com Port Redirector (Redirect.exe)
Users of Windows 95 are theoretically able to install up to 255 serial ports
on their PC's. However, many applications that use serial ports have
configuration programs that install only from COM1 to COM4. At Lava, several of
our products can be installed with port addresses higher than the traditional
COM4. Because certain application programs do not take advantage of this
feature, Lava has included a Com Port Redirect Utility that will allow
ports with COM names above COM4 to be used with older software. The Lava
Port Redirector changes COM names without changing the I/O adresses or
IRQs that are assigned to them.

Additional Notes:

These programs are only for Windows 95.
To install these programs Type A:\setup.exe from Start Run.
To uninstall these program go to Start Programs Lava Uninstall.exe

General Notes: Read Me File for Lava Serial Device on Lava 2SP PCI card.
Windows NT 4.0 Notes:

Use of the LavaPort Control Applet:

1. The LavaPort Control Applet was written in a "Plug and Play" manner. It will attempt to install your card and attempt to show you any conflicts.
2. Information from LavaPort Control Applet installation is written to the System Log. Please refer here for more detailed information.
3. If you wish to select Com 5-8, then you need to use the LavaPort Control Applet.
"Lava strongly recommends the use of the LavaPort Control Applet for use with your Lava Serial Device on Lava 2SP PCI card, for both installation and to make user-defined settings changes."
5. By clicking in Device Manager, then on System Properties, you can see information on your Lava Serial Device on Lava 2SP PCI card. Double click it and you will see one of these possibilities:
* Just the icon, indicates NO CONFLICTS.
* Red "X" through the icon, indicates the hardware has been disabled. This can happen if you override the standard Com settings. Accessing the System Log will indicate the overlap in the Com Registers.
* Blue "!" exclamation point, indicates a System Conflict.
* Yellow "?" question mark, indicates a card not enumerated by the System (the conflict is unresolved).
We need your opinion!
