This package contains the HP Adjustment Pattern Utility. This utility is a
single-pattern program that is designed to help improve the picture quality of
HP or Compaq Flat-Panel Monitors that are attached to computers using an analog
video cable (VGA connector).

The HP Adjustment Pattern utility helps to improve the following image quality
characteristics:

- Fuzzy or unclear focus
- Ghosting, streaking, or shadowing effects
- Faint vertical bars
- Thin, horizontal scrolling lines
- Centering the picture

NOTE: There is no need to use the HP Adjustment Pattern utility if the attached
monitor is connected to the computer using a digital video cable (white DVI
connector on both ends of the cable).

To achieve optimal picture performance, HP recommends setting the operating
system display mode to the native resolution for the flat-panel monitor, as
follows:

- 14-inch and 15-inch flat-panel monitors should be set to a resolution of 1024
x 768.
- 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch flat-panel monitors should be set to a
resolution of 1280 x 1024.
- 17-inch and 19-inch widescreen flat-panel monitors should be set to a
resolution of 1440 x 900.
- 20-inch and 21-inch flat-panel monitors should be set to a resolution of 1600
x 1200.
- 20-inch, 21-inch, and 22-inch widescreen flat-panel monitors should be set to
a resolution of 1680 x 1050.
- 23-inch and 24-inch widescreen flat-panel monitors should be set to a
resolution of 1920 x 1200.
