Installation Instructions
HP recommends you uninstall any previous version of your HP All-in-One software before proceeding.
Uninstall Previous Software
To uninstall your current HP All-in-One software, double-click the HP Uninstaller application located in your Hewlett-Packard folder, which is in your Applications folder. Do not remove Memories Disc or Readiris when you are selecting the components to uninstall.
Installation
Double-click on the hp all-in-one installer icon to install the HP All-in-One software.
Be sure to complete all screens in the HP All-in-One Setup Assistant.
For Mac OS X 10.1.x Users only
Your print or fax queue is configured automatically after setup. If you would like to configure a queue manually in the future follow the steps as mentioned for Mac OS X 10.2
For Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3 Users only
Launch Print Center (or Printer Setup Utility) from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
ClickAdd Printer.
Select a connection method from the pop-up menu. Your device will be listed under one of the following: HP AiO Print, USB, Rendezvous, HP IP Printing. To print to fax, select HP AiO Fax from the pop-up.
Select your device in the browser list and click Add. Your device is added to the Print Center's printer list, with the suffix "(Print)" or "(Fax)".
Quit Print Center.
To change printers in the future, you may either do so directly in an application's print dialog box or change the default for all future print jobs using Print Center.
Adding New Users (Mac OS X)
After creating a new user account in Mac OS X, the new user must run before using the HP All-in-One device. The HP All-in-One Setup Assistantis located on your hard drive at /Applications/Hewlett-Packard/HP Photo and Imaging Software/HP AiO Software/HP All-in-One Setup Assistant
Classic Installation Notes (Mac OS X)
The installer installs the Classic drivers and Chooser extensions in the Classic environment if the installer is run in OS X. To access the Classic feature of the HP All-in-One software, you need not have to install another copy of the software on Mac OS 9.
Note: Mac OS X: Driver Download Has Decoding Failure Using Safari
When downloading an HP All-in-One Driver using Safari (version 1.2), the downloading completes but displays a decoding error in the download manager.
SOLUTION:
Open Safari.
Select Preferences from the Safari menu.
Click the General icon in the toolbar.
Uncheck Open "safe" files after downloading.
Re-download driver.
It is advisable to re-open the Preferences and recheck Open "safe" files after downloading after re-downloading driver.

What does the 5100 Series Enterprise solution consist of?
The HP OfficeJet 5100 Series Enterprise solution is a Print/Scan "mini"driver for those customers requiring a "small footprint" driver for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The installation uses a straightforward "silent" installation process. Typical users of this software solution include commercial customers performing staging of large groups of PCs (customers wanting only Print and Scan software functionality from their PC).

The installation is silent, meaning it has no user interface. Once the setup program runs and completes, the user simply connects the OfficeJet 5100 Series product to the PC using a USB cable. The product can also be connected through a network using an HP Jetdirect 175x print server. An HP OfficeJet 5100 Series printer icon will then appear in the Printers folder, and Scanning can be performed with any TWAIN 1.8 compliant application(s), such as ® Microsoft Office or ® Adobe Photoshop.

Installation Procedure:
Download the OfficeJet 5100 Series Enterprise driver file. For example, for English Windows 2000 the file will be named "po_A_16_01_08_w2k_enu"
Start with OfficeJet 5100 Series disconnected.
Log in to an account with administrator privileges
Run "OfficeJet 5100 Series Enterprise driver"
Select [Next>] on the initial dialog titled "Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for hp officejet 5100 corporate driver"
Select [Next>] after accepting the "Location to Save Files"
The automatic process of extracting the files will begin. You will see a window saying "Installation is complete" for a few moments before disappearing. This step in the process should take less than 1 minute.
Plug the USB cable into your model of the OfficeJet 5100 Series. You will see the Plug&Play dialogs occur over the next minute or so. Once you no longer see the Plug&Play windows the driver load will be complete.

What's New in this Release
Fixes:
A fix has been implemented for a problem seen on computers running with Hyperthreading turned on. With Hyperthreading turned on, the Scan Picture and Copy features would not launch when started from the HP Director. This has been fixed.
A fix has been implemented for a problem that could cause the Windows 2000 stop error 44, (multiple_irp_complete_results), to occur when USB communications is first established between the officejet 5100 and the computer. It occurred intermittantly on certain computers running Windows 2000 only. It was most likely to happen during the plug & play portion of an install when repeatedly uninstalling and reinstalling the software or if power is interrupted while the device is in use.
A fix has been implemented for a problem where if the oj7100 fax printer was set as the default printer, the default would switch back to the oj7100 printer when the system was rebooted.
HP OfficeJet 5100 Series all-in-one Windows Web driver Installation Instructions:
Download the driver file.
Turn off the hp OfficeJet 5100 series device and disconnect either the USB cable.
Temporarily disable antivirus software.
Exit any running applications, games, utilities, and multimedia applications.
Uninstall the previous version of the HP driver software if any is installed.
Run the downloaded .exe file. Follow the screen directions presented during the software installation.
When the software portion of the installation is complete, you will see a "Software Copied Successfully" dialog box with a prompt to "follow the instructions on your setup poster to set up your hp OfficeJet 5100 series hardware".
Select [Finish] on the "Software Copied Successfully" dialog.
If a request to restart your computer dialog appears, select [yes] to reboot the computer.
Connect the usb or parallel cable and turn on your hp OfficeJet 5100 series device to start the Plug & Play phase of the install.
During the Plug & Play phase, a "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog will appear.
Select [Next], then [Next], then [Finish] buttons to continue. On some computers it may take a few minutes to install the software.
The desktop icon will be created, and the HP system tray icon will appear in the lower-right corner of the taskbar. The HP Fax Setup Wizard will appear.
Complete the HP Fax Setup Wizard.
Complete the Electronic Registration, if you have not already done it once.
When the "Congratulations!" dialog appears, select [Skip Tour], since it is not included in the web driver package.
Upon completing the software installation, enable your antivirus software.
View the Readme file or the Onscreen User Guide for further information related to the operation of this driver software. If you chose the default installation location then the readme.html file will be located in the path:
