HP OfficeJet LX Printer/Fax/Copier Software for Windows 3.1x & Windows 95. After downloading, extract the contents to a temporary directory by typing the file name with the -d switch. Example: oj106en.exe -d c:\temp -- Once the self-extracting file is exploded, the user must copy the contents of disk 1, disk 2, and disk 3 sub-directories to individual 3.5-inch floppy disks before installing the software. The installation instructions for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 are documented in the INSTALL.TXT file on disk 1. The original software is required to use this update. Verification: The SETUP.EXE installer is capable of checking for a previously installed version of the HP OfficeJet LX software, or verifying ownership of the original software by requiring the user to insert disk 1 of the HP OfficeJet LX software.

The third party PC fax software incorporated with the HP OfficeJet LX (C2891A) is not Y2K compliant. The problems include date formatting issues with the fax send and receive logs. These issues were corrected in software versions ending with "Y" (i.e. A.02.01Y for English and A.02.02Y for international languages. To determine the software version, double-click on the Eclipse fax icon, click on "Help," then click on "About." Customers with earlier software versions will need to install the patch. Installation Instructions: 1). Steps to get the patch: Choose the language version of the patch you would like to install. The patch is available for the following languages: English, German, French, Dutch, and Spanish. 2). Download the Patch: Download the patch file by double clicking on the file. It will download onto your PC's hard drive. You may be prompted for the location you would like to download it to. You can download it anyplace onto your PC. It is not necessary to create a new folder. It will take only a couple of minutes to download this file. 3). Expand and Install the Patch: Go to your hard drive and find the patch file that you downloaded. Double-click on the file and it will automatically uncompress itself and launch the patch installer. Follow the installer directions on the screen to install the patch. It will take only a few minutes to install patch on your system. 4). Delete the Unneeded File: After the patch has been installed, you may delete the file you originally downloaded. It is no longer needed and will up space on your hard drive. 5). Verify the patch is Installed: To verify the installation was successful, double-click on the Eclipse fax icon in the HP OfficeJet Program Group. Then click on "Help," and then click on "About." The correct version of software ends with "Y" (i.e. A.02.01Y or A.02.02Y).
