Running Repair Permissions or installing Apple's 10.5.1 OSX update corrupts HP print drivers for specific Photosmart, Officejet and Deskjet products.

Step 1: Quit the PrinterProxy or System Preferences applications if they are currently running.
Step 2: Delete the cups driver folder by dragging it to the trash. The folder is located at: Macintosh HD/Library/Printers/HP/cups
Be sure to empty the trash before continuing.
Step 3: Reinstall the Leopard (10.5) compatible software for your HP product.
Step 4: To prevent the issue from re-occurring, download and run the patch installer HP v9.7Inkjet OS X 10.5 Update.

NOTE: Do not run the patch installer until steps 1-3 are complete.

1. Click the Download Only button.
2. When a new pop-up window appears, click on the Save button.
3. Save the file in a desired location.

Note: Make sure the printer is not connected to the computer before running the file.

4. At the end of saving the file, go to the directory where the file was saved and execute it.

Installation Instructions

1. Turn on the printer first, then the computer.
2. Close any screen savers, virus protection programs, or other software programs that are running on your computer.
3. Download the file to your hard drive, and double click on the downloaded ojprok850_xx_setup.exe, the installer will run automatically.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

For Direct connection
5. On the Connection Type screen, select the option to connect through USB and click Next.
6. When prompted, turn on the printer and connect it to the computer using a USB cable. The Found New Hardware wizard appears on the computer screen, and the printer icon is created in the Printers folder.

For Network Connection
5. On the Connection Type screen, select the option to connect through network and click Next.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Do you need to update?

This driver patch is to address 'print job disappear' while using QuarkXpress v6.1 and v6.5 on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP 32 bit operating systems.

NOTE: Please remember to re-install this patch if you need to re-install the print driver in your system.

Installation Instructions

Before running the batch file, please ensure there is no print job queue in the print spooler as the batch file will restart the print spooler as part of the patching process.

1.Download the patch file into your local hard drive.
2.Click on the ojprok850_QuarkXpress_32bit_patch.zip file to extract the patch files into your desired location.
3.Click on the 32_drvpatch.bat to start the driver patching and the print spooler will restart automatically.

Use this utility ONLY if the software was not successfully installed, or the Uninstaller could not be found. Repeat the whole installation process again after this is done.
