In order to use this software download, you must already have installed version 4.0.7 of the HP All-in-One software. Refer to the Readme file for additional instructions on determining the version of the HP All-in-One software installed.

How to Apply This Software Update
Below are easy-to-follow instructions for downloading and installing your Mac OS X v10.2 software update.
Before proceeding with the software installation, the printer must first be properly set up, and your computer must be ready to print.
Turn on the printer first, then the computer.
Close any screen savers, virus protection programs or other software programs that are running on your computer.
Download the file to your hard drive.
Expand the file by finding the directory where the file was saved. Double click on the file.
Upgrading from a Mac OS X version 10.1.x system
If you are upgrading your system from OS X v10.1.x to OS X v10.2 (Jaguar), you should uninstall the HP All-in-One software prior to upgrading the operating system. This can be done by launching the uninstaller located at /Applications/HP All-In-One Software/HP AIO Uninstaller. Once the HP All-in-One software has been removed, upgrade the operating system as recommended by Apple and follow the steps in the next section: Installing on a Mac OS X v10.2 (Jaguar) system.
Installing on a Mac OS X v 10.2 (Jaguar) system
To install the software for your HP LaserJet All-in-One on a Mac OS X v10.2 (Jaguar) system follow these steps:
Verify you are using Mac OS X v10.2.3 or 10.2.4 only.
Verify you have version 4.0.7 of the HP LaserJet All-in-One software previously installed. Refer to the Readme for instructions on determining software version.
Close the HP All-in-One Setup Assist by choosing HP Setup Assistant->Quit HP Setup Assistant from the file menu.
Launch Print Center from /Applications/Utilities/Print Center
Select and delete the version 4.0.7 print queue if it exists. It can be identified by the name HP LaserJet 1220 (Printer)
Quit Print Center
Run the update installer you downloaded.
After entering the administrator credentials, choose to install on the installer UI.
When prompted, choose to restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, the HP All-in-One Setup Assist should launch. If it does not, launch it manually from the location, /Applications/HP All-in-One Software/HP All-in-One Setup Assist
Complete the steps in the HP All-in-One Setup Assist application as prompted.
Open /Applications/Utilities/Print Center and verify print queue has been created. The correct print queue should contain the suffix "(Printer)". If the queue is not listed, refer to the Readme on "How to Configure a Print".
In Print Center, highlight the print queue from step 12 and choose Make Default
Quit Print Center.

Some printers may experience slower performance due to the different ways that some computers and printers handle bi-directional communication of the parallel (LPT) interface. Some larger, more complex jobs may need more time to process and print due to the increased communication traffic over the parallel interface.

Below are easy-to-follow instructions for downloading and installing the Screen Reader Accessibility for Status and Alerts software.
Before proceeding with the software installation, the printer must first be properly set up, and the printer drivers must be already installed, and your computer must be ready to print.
Download the file to a folder on your hard drive.
Close any screen savers, virus protection programs, or any other software programs that are running on your computer.
Go to the folder where you downloaded the software and double click the file to extract the files.
Go to the folder where these files were extracted to, for example c:\lj1117, and double click on the setup.exe file to start the installation process. During the install process you will be asked to select options for 'Display status window when.' We suggest you select all of the options for Screen Reader Accessibility.
You only need to install this software once on each computer for all HP LaserJet printers connected, either on the network or direct.
Open the 'Job Status and Alerts' software. We suggest you review each of the options for status and alerts and select the ones you wish to receive for your printer.
