Dark Courier Font

Download, install, and use the "Dark Courier" font when the "Courier or Courier New" font is not dark enough.

Note: For use in Windows Operating Systems only. Do not use for DOS-based applications.
Instructions for installing the Dark Courier TT font in Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0 and 2000.
Unzip the downloaded file (make note of drive and folder files were unzipped to).
From the Windows desktop, left mouse click on Start, Settings, and then Control Panel.
In the Control Panel Window, double mouse click on the Fonts folder (this will open Windows Fonts folder).
Left mouse click on File and then Install New font (the Add Fonts window will appear).
Under Folders and Drives, select the drive and folder where the downloaded file was unzipped. The font file names should appear under List of Fonts.
Make certain there is a checkmark next to Copy fonts to Fonts folder.
Left mouse click on the Select All button (this will highlight all of the Dark Courier fonts).
Left mouse click on the OK button (this will install the fonts to your Windows Fonts folder).
Close the Fonts window and then the Control panel.
Restart Windows. Dark Courier should be listed in your Window applications font list.

NOTE:To update the firmware, the HPLaserJet 3100 product must be connected to your computer using a parallel cable.
This section will help you download the firmware to your computer and start you on the install process.
On your computer, save your work and quit any open programs.
To download into a temporary, default directory on your PC, click on the download. Note the directory and path where the file is saved to. You will need to access this file on your PC.
To expand (unzip) this file select Start/Run on your PC; Select Browse and find the directory where the file was saved to. Click on the file, select Open and then ok.
Please note that this file will create and extract into a default directory on your hard drive.
Installation will begin automatically, follow the on-screen instructions.
If problems arise use the Manual Installation method.
After installation is complete you will need to reconfigure the printer using the JetSuite desktop software.



Issues addressed in Firmware

The new 1.21 version of firmware for the HPLaserJet 3100 product is intended for the Windows 3.1x, 95, 98, NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 operating systems. The firmware upgrade addresses the following issues.

Added a check for page at hopper after page loaded, return clearing previous page to PC to allow PC to retry for page loaded. Prevents PC from getting a page not loaded in multi-page scans when page not fed at PC page ready command.

When the HP LaserJet 3100 product receives an illegal or unsupported fax command, the control panel displays an error message. Previously, no message appeared.
Fix download fax page count resetting in middle of download fax job. F/W variable used to maintain the download page count is reset at end of print job; added new F/W variable used only for download fax page count.
Fix download broadcast faxes with greater 16 phone numbers.
Fix for fax forward and pager number initialization. Both numbers were being assigned to the same phonebook entry upon a memory clear.
The product now can print accented characters in reports.
The default number of times the product redials busy fax number has been changed to 3, except in Finland where the default number of redials has been changed to 4.
The default dialing mode for the product in Russia had been changed to pulse dialing.
Lenient ring detect is enabled for Austria.
Added LIU support for the following countries: Spain, Italy, Israel, Belgium, Russia, Hungary, New Zealand, Switzerland, Austria, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong.
In addition to the languages already supported, you can now set the product control panel to display messages in Spanish or Italian.
For Malaysia, the default number of fax redials is 2, and the maximum number of redials is 2. The minimum time between redials is 2 minutes.
Except in the United States and Canada, the DIS message for the HP LaserJet 3100 product has been shortened, which has caused JBIG compression to be disabled. The change was necessary because some fax machines that are not compatible with the HP JBIG implementation are unable to accept the longer DIS message. When receiving a longer-length DIS message, those fax machines abruptly hang up without completing the transmission.
Fix for multiple page fax receipt. Previously, the HP LaserJet 3100 product received the first page of the fax but then generated a Communication Error 821 before receiving the second page of the fax. This issue affects the following countries: Hong Kong, Israel, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Russia, and Hungary.
