Once configured the EX-40053 Serial Card, can be installed into a 16-Bit ISA-Slot.
When you are ready to Install the EX-40053, please proceed with the following installation
instructions. Because the design of computer cases varies greatly, only general
installation instructions are given. Please refer your computer’s reference manual
whenever in doubt.
• Turn off the power to your computer and any other connected peripherals.
• Remove the mounting screws located at the rear and/or sides panels of your
computer and gently slide the cover off.

screws.
When install other Serial ports in your computer system, for example with the I/O address
3F8(COM1), the EX-40053 must be assigned to a different I/O address 2F8
(COM2). Duplicate the same I/O addresses will cause the computer system to malfunction.
Each 16-Bit interrupt can be assigned to any I/O addresses. Most Serial cards available
on the market can only be configured to interrupt 3 or 4. The EX-40053 Serial Card
allows to six additional interrupts (IRQ 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15).
The EX-40053 have two 16C550 Serial High-Speed chip. With this FIFO (First In / First
Out) Buffer the EX-40053 have a 16-Byte Transmitter- and 16-Byte Receiver register
what can offer you a Data-Transfer-Rate up to 460.8Kbaud. That a suggestive for a
faster Serial transmission and relieve the processor from the computer system. Any
User-Software recognize the FIFO Chip automatically and use this function.
Baudrate setting (Clock):
The EX-40053 support for the Port S1 and S2 the normal speed (CLKx1), double speed
(CLKx2) and four-time speed (CLXx4).
Use the four time speed up to 460800 Baud its usefully for RS-232 NetWare solution,
Serial data transmission from PC to PC, New Modem and ISDN solution. The Peripheraldevice
must support the select Baud rate. The setting you can select with the jumpers
„Clock setting“. The Baud rate from the EX-40053 are maximal with CLKx1: 115200,
with CLKx2: 230400 and with CLKx4: 460800 Baud. The application software must
support the setting Baud rate. Please note that if you have a high Baud rate the cable
