Instructions for upgrade:
* For users connected via the network, please temporarily disconnect your HP LaserJet 1022 series printer from the network to ensure the network devices do not interrupt the FW upgrade process. The HP LaserJet 1022n printer must be in a READY state and remain powered on during the entire firmware update process.
Download .dmg file to desktop.
Double click the .dmg file to mount the disk image.
File will open a new window "1022n Firmware Update 20050401" Double click icon.
Follow the onscreen prompts to continue.
Once the printer has been rebooted, the utility will allow you to 'download' the firmware.
DO NOT POWER CYCLE THE PRINTER during the upgrade process or it will leave your printer in an unusable state.
LED?s will start flashing, Please be patient.
Depending on the speed of your Mac, the firmware update process may complete on the printer before the progress bar on the screen completes. PLEASE BE PATIENT. Once the LEDS stop flashing, the printer has updated and re-initialized.

In the window adjacent to the "select printer to update" use the drop down arrow to select the "HP LaserJet 1022n. If you have previously assigned a different name to the HP LaserJet 1022n, choose the name that represents the correct printer.
Click on the "Start" button in the dialog window.
The progress bar will begin to move to the right indicating information being transferred
Do Not power cycle the printer or the PC during this process or the printer may become unstable and or unusable without further attention from HP. The firmware update can take up to 2 minutes to complete. Depending on the speed of your PC, the firmware update process may complete on the printer before the progress bar on the screen completes. Please be patient
During the printer firmware update, the LED's will flash. When the update is complete, the printer will change back to a ready state.
On the display of the PC, a smiling face will appear in the "LaserJet 1022n Firmware Update 20050401" dialog box at the conclusion of the successful firmware download.
Once the printer is in the ready state, to complete the update process you must power cycle the printer by turning the printer power off then on.
If it is desired to verify the update, a configuration page can be printed. Press and hold the go button until the green ready light begins to flash. The configuration page will display the current firmware revision in the Product information block, Firmware Datecode: 20050401

These changes are implemented in the new version firmware 20050401:
Fixed system parser if the network connection closed before the job finished, resulting in an infinite loop- the job active led would blind continually and the print job would stay in the printer queue.
Fixed network printing where first job after a network cable disconnect/reconnect would fail to print. Reprinting the job would succeed.
Fixed EWS where web pages could be corrupted on slow network connections.
Added network Gratuitous ARP.
Made changes to DHCP Fully Qualified Domain Name. Switched to using HP JetDirect method.
AutoIP to set the default gateway so that a non-AutoIP host can talk to the printer with an AutoIP address.
Resolved install issue where setting IP Address from installer wasn't working.
Resolved issue with setting a static IP address from the installer.
Flash Firmware update process
* The HP LaserJet 1022n Firmware Update Utility can be performed using either a Network connection or USB port.
When using the USB port or the network connection, the HP LaserJet 1022n software must be installed prior to using this utility.
The HP LaserJet 1022n printer must be in a READY state and remain powered on during the entire firmware update process.
This utility is for use on Windows 98se, ME, 2000 and XP. It can be used with Network or USB connections.
MS Windows Instructions for printer firmware update:
* Depending on the speed of your PC, the firmware update process may complete on the printer, before the progress bar on the screen completes. * Once the update process has started, do not use your PC for other activity until the process is complete.
Download the file to the desktop.
Double click on the flash update utility file. A Window "LaserJet 1022n Firmware Update 20050401" will open
