Observations

This download contains BIOS and Firmware updates for the Intel Storage Server SSR212MC2BR for use with a bootable DOS media.

This package contains the following firmware versions:BIOS 98
BMC 64
FRUSDR 46

While the only change with this update is to BIOS version 98, Intel recommends updating all components at the same time to synchronize the firmwares.

BIOS version greater than 84 is required for system compatibility with Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5400 and Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 5200 series processors. For more information on processor compatibility, see the Intel Storage Server SSR212MC2BR Supported processor list.

Important Note: While the Intel Server Board S5000PSL used in the SSR212MC2BR may have newer revisions of BIOS and firmware available for it specifically, the revisions listed here are the only revisions that have been tested/validated for use with the Storage Server SSR212MC2. Use of other revisions may have unpredictable results.

Follow the instructions exactly as written. A complete and successful update will take approximately 20 minutes.

- Copy all system update files to a bootable DOS USB Disk-on-key device.
- Verify processor(s) and memory DIMMs are installed in the system
- Plug in AC power cord
- Wait until Status LED stops blinking red/green (~30 seconds)
- Insert bootable DOS USB Disk-on-Key into USB Port (Front or Rear)
- Power on system using "Power" button on Control Panel

When BIOS and Firmware updates are complete:The Intel Storage System SSR212MC2BR or SSR212MC2RBR must have the USB Boot Priority set to "Disabled" to match the BIOS settings configured from the factory.

This can be accomplished by performing the following steps:1) Apply power, and turn on your Intel SSR212MC2BR or SSR212MC2RBR
2) Before the Operating System starts loading, Press F2 to enter BIOS setup
3) Press the right arrow key to display the Boot Options menu
4) Select USB Boot Priority
5) Set to Disabled
6) Press F10 to save BIOS settings and exit BIOS setup

Not performing this BIOS setting change can lead to a no boot condition under certain situations.
